“I’m putting up first-round value these days” – Robert Covington
Don’t let the horrible Sixers record fool you. In terms of fantasy, there are a lot of interesting guys on the roster. Noel, Okafor, Canaan, but most of all Robert Covington.
Ever since he came back from his injury, he’s been on a mission. Anyone lucky enough to get him off waivers (or who stuck with him) is probably faring very well in their fantasy league right now. And yes, he’s been doing this long enough now that it doesn’t look like much of a fluke, at all.
In his last eight games, he averages:
17.6 PPG / 7.4 REB / 2.4 AST / 3.6 STL / 1.0 BLK
The 76ers are using him a lot in open space. Covington has only taken 33.9 percent of his shots beyond 10 feet with a defender inside of four feet of him. He really is versatile. He’s able to shoot 3’s, he can drive to the basket, his mid-range game isn’t bad and he’s a good rebounder and defender. He is the best shooter (the only good one?) on the roster.
He’s owned in over 80% of both, Yahoo and ESPN fantasy leagues. But if he somehow is available, waste no time and pick him up! You won’t regret it.
I also say, that he is the real deal and I (I have him in one of my leagues) wouldn’t sell high.
