Last night, Russell Westbrook had yet another huge triple-double – 31 points, 15 dimes and 11 rebounds. It was his fifth triple-double of the season. It was also his fifth straight game with at least 30 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds. During these five games, Russell Westbrook has averages of:
33.0 PPG / 11.2REB / 12.3 AST / 51.3% FG / 80.4% FT
These numbers are just insane, and it has been the first time in over 25 years that we’ve seen such stats. In 1989, it was Michael Jordan (who else), had also had at least 30 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds through 5 straight games – Like Mike
Russell Westbrook is having a season for the ages in general. He now has 42 career triple doubles and trails Fat Lever and LeBron James with only one triple double (let’s be real, he’ll catch them this week) for the sixth place on the list of all time triple double leaders. He also lacks just 0.3 rebounds per game from averaging a triple-double, with season averages of:
31.6 PPG / 9.7 REB / 10.4 AST / 44.7% FG / 80.5% FT
Jordan also introduced Westbrook into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and had some kind words for him.
