Taj Gibson Wants To Remain In Chicago; Doesn’t Like The Lucrative Deals Across the NBA

Chicago Bulls forward Taj Gibson insists he wants to remain in “Chi-Town” for as long as possible. Gibson signed a four-year, $38 million deal with the Bulls in 2012 and will hit free agency this offseason.

The 31-year-old says he won’t be chasing big money like other players in the league.

”Of course I want to stay here,” said Gibson to the Chicago Tribune. ”The amount of money I’m seeing guys making is ridiculous. But I’m going to remain humble. I’m going to stay focused and know I was blessed to get that last deal I got,” he continued.

”I always just do my job and never be a distraction for my team. I’m blessed to be here a long time. I remember over the years a lot of trade rumors, a lot of times I thought I wasn’t going to make it through. They stayed with me. It speaks to my character,” Gibson finished.

The Chicago Bulls selected Taj Gibson with the 26th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. Gibson is averaging 12.1 points and 7.9 rebounds in 28.7 minutes per game so far this season. He started in every Bulls game so far in the 2016-17 campaign instead of being a main weapon off-the-bench like he’s been in the past.
