Stephen Curry Doesn’t Mind Being 4th Highest Paid Warrior

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry doesn’t mind being the fourth highest paid player on the team.

The two-time MVP signed a four-year, $44 million deal in 2012 with Golden State. Then, he was yet to be named an MVP and was considered on the rise as a top point guard. Also, the NBA’s salary cap was no near what it is today, having Golden State paid him less.

“One thing my pops always told me is you never count another man’s money,” Curry said in a podcast to Mercury News, as quoted by ESPN. ”It’s what you’ve got and how you take care of it. And if I’m complaining about $44 million over four years, then I’ve got other issues in my life.”

The 28-year-old Curry is set to hit free agency in the upcoming offseason–Golden State can give him a five-year deal worth around $210 million.

Curry, a seven-year NBA veteran, was the 7th overall pick of Golden State in the 2009 NBA draft.

He says he just can’t envision himself being on another’s team roster next season.

”I can’t,” Curry said. ”Like I’ve said from Day 1, when I was first asked about free agency, this is a perfect place to play. Bay Area fans are amazing, our organization’s amazing, we’ve put together an amazing team that’s competing for championships every year. … There’s really no reason that I can see right now that would draw me elsewhere.”
