Horrific Eye Injury In The Australian Basketball League – WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT
We’ve seen a lot of things on a basketball court, but look away now if you have a sensitive stomach.
A horrific incident occurred in the Australian basketball league (NBL) overnight, as Aki Mitchell, an American born player suffered a horrifying eye injury late in the fourth quarter.
His New Zealand Breakers were taking on the Cairns Taipans, and Mitchell was accidentally poked in the eye causing his eyeball to fall out of his socket late in the final period. The match had to be stopped for 15 minutes as he underwent medical attention, and was quickly rushed to the nearest hospital.
Mitchell went down in agony as he was battling for a rebound, and left the court with a towel over his head.
The crowd was sent into shock, and both sets of players gathered around briefly to send their prayers to the Breakers forward.
Positive news has come out since, as Mitchell is recovering back at home and seeing clearly. He will continue to undergo cautious testing to ensure no further damage is done.
He even had time to send this light hearted tweet out shortly after returning home.
👀… too soon? Lol thanks for all the love, well wishes, and prayers tonight. I'm home and seeing fine, more tests tomorrow

Prayers go out to him to make a full recovery and return to action sooner rather than later.
