LeBron James On His Respect For Michael Jordan
In last night’s Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals, LeBron James made history.
James passed Michael Jordan on the all time playoff scoring list, and is the new number one scorer in playoff history. James may have needed 33 more games, but he also took 120 fewer shots.
LeBron was asked how it felt to pass Jordan during the post game press conference. James praised Jordan, but also was very proud of his achievement.
“First of all, I wear the number because of Mike, I think I fell in love with the game because of Mike, just seeing what he was able to accomplish. But I felt like Mike was so… you know when you’re growing up and you see a Michael Jordan, it’s almost like a god. So I did never believe I could be Mike. So I started focussing myself on other players and other people around my neighborhood, because I never thought that you could get to a point where Mike was. So I think that helped shape my game.”
