Sport Science – Lonzo Ball’s Shot

ESPN’s Sport Science has tested the top prospects of this year’s NBA Draft.

Lonzo Ball, possibly the number two pick, had to go through some shooting drills in order to evaluate his strange looking jumpshot.

Strangely, his release time is a lot better than NBA average, and very close to Klay Thompson’s, who has one of the league’s quickest releases.

Sports Science initial question ‘Ball’s shot has been called a number of things, and “pretty” isn’t one of them. So how will that affect this likely lottery pick?’ can’t yet be answered. We have to wait and see how his shot transitions to the NBA. Kevin Martin, who had a similar jump shot, was known as a fairly succesful shooter, for example.
