It’s Official: Phil Jackson And The New York Knicks Are Parting Ways

A rumor that became reality more and more, throughout the morning, is now a fact. The New York Knicks and their president of basketball operations, Phil Jackson, have parted ways.

The Knicks’ confirmed it in their press release this morning:

MSG Executive Chairman Jim Dolan and Phil Jackson announced today that, after discussing the future of the New York Knicks, they have mutually agreed to part company. Mr. Jackson is leaving his post as President of Basketball Operations, effective immediately.

“After careful thought and consideration, we mutually agreed that the Knicks will be going in a different direction,” said Mr. Dolan. “Phil Jackson is one of the most celebrated and successful individuals in the history of the NBA. His legacy in the game of basketball is unmatched. We wish him the best and thank him for his service to the Knicks as both a player and an executive.

In true Knicks’ fashion, they just picked up their 2-year option on Jackson. They could’ve parted ways for $0. Now, it looks like it will be millions of dollars.

The Knicks reportedly are already looking for Jackson’s replacement. None other than Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Toronto Raptors’ Masai Ujiri now is the Knicks’ top priority.

Maybe Sam Hinkie should be hired to start ‘The Process 2.0’
