Carmelo Anthony To Houston Trade Is At The 2-Yard Line

A possible Carmelo Anthony to the Houston Rockets trade is being discussed for weeks now.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Houston Rockets and New York Knicks are working on various trade scenarios that even involves a four-team trade. Without stating any details, it appears that the trade is on its final stretches.  The New York Daily News reported that the Anthony trade is at the 2-yard line. Let’s just hope it isn’t Pete Carroll setting up the final play (sorry Seahawks fans).

ESPN reported:

“No deal was imminent Wednesday, but the Knicks and Rockets are confident that they have a willing third-team trade partner incorporated into the framework, the sources said.

The fourth team was needed to move a particular player contract that neither the Knicks nor Rockets could or would accept in the deal, league sources said.”

But who could the other teams involved be?

If we believe Marc Berman of the New York Post, the New Orleans Pelicans want to be part of the trade. He wrote:

“The Pelicans, once the home of Ryan Anderson, expressed interest in being one of the clubs involved, according to a source.”

So the Pelicans’ interest in getting back Anderson does not make sense at first. You’ll have to take a second look at the Pelicans’ plan. They want to get rid of two bad contracts on their own. Both big men, Ömer Asik and Alexis Ajinca, have contracts, that are way too loaded for how they’ve been performing (if at all).  That’s where the fourth team would come into play. A rebuilding, possibly even tanking team, like the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, or Orlando Magic.

There are still a lot of ifs and whens, but New York wants to get rid of Anthony, and Anthony wants to go to Houston. We’ll soon have yet another superteam.
