Stephen Jackson Destroys DeMarre Carroll On ‘The Jump’

After his career year in the 2014-2015 season with the Atlanta Hawks, where he was part of the Hawks’ starting line-up that were named the Eastern Conference Players of the Month after they compiled the first 17-0 record in a calendar month, DeMarre Carroll got paid by the Toronto Rapotors. Carroll signed a four-year, $60 million contract, but wasn’t able to play on the same level anymore. In his first year with the Raptors, Carroll only played 26 games, due to various injuries. Last season, he played 72, but only averaged 8.9 points on 40% shooting. The Raptors wanted to get rid of his contract and traded him, along with 2018 first and second round draft picks, to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Justin Hamilton.

After the trade, Carroll has taken a several shots at the Raptors. He was telling the Toronto Sun the team’s style of play was too isolation-heavy, due to a lack of trust between teammates.

“This year, I feel like a lot of guys didn’t trust each other and a lot of guys, they didn’t feel like other guys could produce or be given the opportunity, so there was a lot of lack of trust on our team, so that’s what hindered us from going as far as they wanted to go.”

The DeMarre Carroll situation was also discussed on ESPN’s ‘The Jump’ with Rachol Nichols, Paul Pierce and Stephen Jackson. While Pierce kept it simple by saying,

“You left Toronto. You’re on the Nets. Be happy there. Just be happy. Don’t take shots at Toronto now that you’re gone. Understand you’re a role player.”

Stephen Jackson didn’t mince matters and went right at Carroll, completely ending him in his statement.

“DeMarre Carroll, why are you even talking? If anybody passes you the ball, you should be happy. Play defense. You’re Bruce Bowen. Just go in the corner, shoot 3s and be happy. You shouldn’t even have an input. You’re not good. He’s not good enough to have an opinion.”
