Enes Kanter’s Heartfelt Video To Thunder: “Please Beat The Warriors For Me”

The NBA is a business, and business decisions can be very tough for some individuals. The newest victim is Enes Kanter.

Kanter just renewed his loyalty towards the Thunder this week, now he’s been traded to the New York Knicks! The Thunder have become his home after all that he’s been through recently.

Earlier this summer, Kanter was being detained in Romania after his passport was “canceled” by the Turkish embassy. Kanter had previously criticized the Turkish president Recep Erdogan. Kanter was eventually released and was able to make it back to the US. His family was being forced to publicly disown him, and Kanter’s father was arrested and questioned multiple times. He then immediately said that he was planning on applying for U.S. citizenship. The Oklahoma City Thunder helped him through this hard time and Kanter was thankful for it. He has said that the people of Oklahoma City, and the Thunder organization, provided him a home when his native one was taken from him.

When the news broke, Kanter was live streaming at a charity event, but shared his feelings in a video shortly after. Kanter said:

“Man, I don’t know where to start. I got a lot of feelings, but I can’t say it all. But I want to start with thanking you guys. Shoutout to Sam Presti, my teammates, my Stache Bro Steven Adams, team members, trainers, the whole state because when I lost my family and when I lost my home, you guys gave me family and you guys gave me home, so that’s why Oklahoma, this organization, the whole state, will be always in my heart. And then the second, I want to say, please beat the Warriors for me. Please, I’m gonna be watching that game, so please beat the Warriors for me. I just want to say I can’t thank you enough to you guys. You guys did everything for me. And lastly, I want to say please take care of the Turkish community here because they love you. Thanks. That’s all I can say right now. I got no hard feelings. I understand it’s a business. I’m not mad or anything, don’t get me wrong. I love you guys. It’s a new adventure for me, New York. Please pray for me, I hope we gonna have an amazing season with the New York Knicks. I’ll see you guys soon. I appreciate it.”

The NBA can be cruel at times, and I wish Enes Kanter all the best with his new team. What a great guy!
