Mavs Fan Sends Dirk $20 To Thank Him For Contract Discounts
Dirk Nowitzki received an awesome letter by a fan yesterday.
The fan sent Dirk a card and a $20 bill as a ‘thank you for taking discounts’. Nowitzki will ‘only’ make $5 million this season. It isn’t the only discount Nowitzki gave Cuban an the Mavs in order to allow the Mavs’ front office to put a better team around him. In an interview from earlier this offseason, Nowitzki said:
“Mark and I obviously have a close, close relationship. And last year, he really, really took care of me as we all know. That was well-documented, obviously. And, you know, it was my time to show again that I love being here. He [Mark Cuban] did that last summer, and now I gave him a little bit of a deal, maybe. I really… it’s signed for two years. We’ll see how the next year goes and obviously we all know I wanted to end my career there and I’m glad we got to that position now.”
Got this from a fan today at open practice… much appreciated! pic.twitter.com/qpRhwB1vmG

“Thank you for 20 seasons of pure Greatness it’s been an honor to watch you play from a kid to an adult. If this is indeed your last season THANK YOU DIRK NOWITZKI!!!!!!! I DON’T CARE WHAT THE CRITICS SAY YOUR THE GREATEST TO EVER PLAY!!!!
Thanks Dirk!!!
I think I speak on behalf of Dallas that we truly appreciate everything you done for the city.”
While Dirk did take discounts, he probably is still able to afford lunch by himself. Nowitzki has made $245,371,801 in NBA salary, before this season, and a rather nice amount through various endorsement deals. But in the end. $20 are $20!
