NBA Offseason Grades – Golden State Warriors & Houston Rockets

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS: A-

Obviously the rest of the league is trying to catch up to the talent of the Warriors after they lifted the NBA championship in June, and the world champions seemed to get even better this off season with a couple of handy additions. They didn’t set the world on fire with their summer activity, but they did add sharpshooter Nick Young, resigned JaVale McGee, David West, Zaza Pachulia, Andre Iguodala, Shawn Livingston, and most importantly Kevin Durant. They  added talented Omri Casspi and drafted bigtime college power forward Jordan Bell. The Warriors are already stacked, but may have in fact improved again this summer. It will be hard to catch them for sure.

HOUSTON ROCKETS: A

The Rockets have had a superb off season. As the wild wild West improved around them, the Rockets were aggressive in landing the players they wanted to. They welcomed defensive stopped Luc Mbah a Moute who will help them on the wings as well as PJ Tucker who is also an excellent defender. The rockets didn’t only improve on the wings, but their back court became one of, if not the best back court in the entire association. They landed point GOD Chris Paul in a massive coup for the franchise as he will now join forces with James Harden to wreak havoc on opposition’s defenses. It will be fun to watch those two orchestrate the offense in a free flowing Mike D’Antoni system. The only disappointment the franchise will have in the summer is not facilitating a trade for scoring machine Carmelo Anthony, who eventually ended up in Oklahoma City. Other than that, a fantastic off season for the organization.
