NBA Offseason Grades – Knicks & OKC
NEW YORK KNICKS: C-
Well, it finally happened, the New York Knicks finally found a new home for Carmelo Anthony which seemed like a frenzy of rumors for two straight years. Enes Kanter and Doug McDermott came to the Big Apple in exchange, in a strange trade for the franchise’s best player. Along with those two, Tim Hardaway Junior, Jarret Jack, Ramon Sessions and Michael Beasley will now call Maddison Square Garden home. The reins have now well and truly been handed to Kristaps Porzingis, who will now be the face of the franchise and the Knicks main man.
OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER: A
What a ride this offseason has been if you’re an Oklahoma City Thunder fan. First, MVP Russell Westbrook committed his future to the franchise by re-signing long term, then the front office put together a masterful set of display in firstly bringing in Paul George, and then landing Carmelo Anthony, forming a new big three in city. It was a mammoth move to bring in both players, but it did cost them their depth. Their starting five is championship contender worthy, but their depth will be an ongoing issue throughout the season. If they still had decent depth after pulling off those colossal trades they would have landed an A+ this off season, but hey, an A isn’t bad by any means. A lot of questions to still be answered with their new big three, but what an exciting time to be a Thunder fan.
