NBA Offseason Grades – Suns & TrailBlazers
PHOENIX SUNS: B-
The Suns didn’t do much this offseason except call the Cleveland Cavaliers and give them trade scenarios for Kyrie Irving which were never going to be realistic. It looked as though Eric Bledsoe would be on his way out but he’s remained in Phenoix and the roster hasn’t changed much at all. They did draft what seems like a great selection in Josh Jackson, who has the potential to develop into a superb player, but other than that, not much has transpired. Anthony Bennett has been given yet another NBA lifeline and Troy Daniels is another new face as well.
PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS: D
Rumors were the TrailBlazers were in the hunt for Carmelo Anthony which would have put them right back into the top 4 mix in the West, but nothing eventuated and the Blazers didn’t improve at all this off season. Melo was the only genuine name they were attached to, but it looks as though the front office is quite content with the talent they have now to see where it takes them. Jusuf Nurkic will have a whole training camp and preseason to cement himself alongside Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, but it was much of the same for the Blazers this summer.
