NBA Offseason Grades – Raptors, Jazz & Wizards
TORONTO RAPTORS: C
The Raptors didn’t do much to catch the Celtics and Cavaliers in the East during this offseason. Their roster didn’t change much as the Raptors hung onto Kyle Lowry who was rumored to be on multiple teams’ radar. This could be their best bit of business this summer, who only managed to bring in CJ Miles and K.J. McDaniels as their notable assets. A lackluster offseason for the Raptors.
UTAH JAZZ: B
It was a difficult offseason for the Utah Jazz, their main man Gordon Hayward opted to say goodbye to the franchise in a deflating decision. George Hill also said goodbye leaving the Jazz with a massive hole in their back court. They’ve tried to recover and have done an ok job in the process. Ricky Rubio has joined the organization to replace Hill. Jonas Jerebko has also come down to Utah in another move to help their depth. All in all the Jazz went backwards this summer, but it was largely out of their control.
WASHINGTON WIZARDS: C
The Wizards didn’t manage to make up any ground on the Cavaliers either this off season as the gap between the two franchises grew. The Wizards had a real chance to improve this summer with the free agent talent that was available, but they didn’t manage to bring in any notable names that could push them closer or over the edge. Their nucleus has remained, which will keep them in the top four in the East, but they were stagnant when they could have bridged the gap. Mike Scott, Tim Frazier and Jodie Meeks join the Nations’ capital for the Wizards.
