Kawhi Leonard To Return Sooner Than Later
The San Antonio Spurs have had a decent start to the 2017/18 NBA season. After 14 games, the Spurs have a 9 and 5 record and currently sit in 3rd place of the Western Conference.
So, everything as usual? Well, yes and no. Yes, because the Spurs are always expected to finish in the top 4, no because they managed to start this well without their star player, Kawhi Leonard.
When it comes to injury updates and timetables, the Spurs are one of the worst teams. They won’t make any prognoses and barley update the media. But now, San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich said that Leonard will return ‘sooner than later’.
Pop told Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News:
Asked if there is “light at the end of the tunnel” for the Spurs’ linchpin player, Popovich said after shootaround Tuesday morning, “Oh, sure. He’s gonna be back sooner rather than later.”
Unfortunately, Popovich followed up his statement by saying “what the hell does that mean?” so we’re still a bit in the dark about when we can anticipate the former Finals MVP to make his way back to the court. But given the Spurs’ record, I doubt they’ll rush Kawhi back into action and won’t let him play until he is 100% healthy.
