Isaiah Thomas’ Biggest Concern When Joining The Cavs Were The Handshakes
When you get traded to a new team, you will face a lot of challenges. What plays is the new team running? What is the coaching philosophy? What do you have to change to adapt?
These and many more problems are what players normally face when they join a new team. Normally? Well, not in Isaiah Thomas’ case. The All-Star point guard, who was traded from the Boston Celtics to the Cleveland Cavaliers this past summer, said he wasn’t worried about all the ‘on-court things’. What really had him concerned were the Cavs’ different handshakes.
“The handshakes, when I got traded here, that’s one of the first things. I’m like, “Dang, man. I’m going to have to get my handshakes down.” I really wasn’t worried about the on-court things. I’m like, “Man, these handshakes are very serious.” But that’s probably the biggest thing. All the other stuff, I’ll figure that out.”

The Cavliers players indeed have a different handshake for every other team member, and some of them are really adventurous and probably hard to learn. But Thomas has had plenty of time to study, while recovering from his injury.
