Kyrie Irving Credits Brad Stevens For Current Success
Kyrie Irving and the Boston Celtics have been one of the biggest success stories of this young NBA season.
Kyrie is the team leader he always wished to be, and the young team is currently on a 15 game win-streak. Irving has spoken highly of his new coach Brad Stevens all season long, and the two really seem to connect on a professional and personal level. Kyrie now told the Boston Globe, that his new coach makes it easier for him to be clutch,
“(Stevens) understands the talent that I have at that point, especially in the fourth quarter,” Irving said. “But I also understand his brilliant mind. So when we’re preparing and going through walk-through or simulating situations, it’s kind of easy to just go off one another. I’m able to see the reads and what’s going to happen, and then he makes the play-calls and what he sees out there. And we’re just continuously building that trust with one another. So it’s pretty easy.”
The player-coach tandem has impressed so far, especially in the clutch, as Irving is leading the league in clutch scoring, averaging 5.5 points on an impressive 57.6% from the field.
