Mark Cuban Says Donald Trump And LaVar Ball Are Much Alike

You’ve probably read enough about the LaVar Ball and Donald Trump feud for now. Here’s a quick summary of what happened.

LaVar Ball was called out by President Donald Trump for not thanking him, or being gracious, after making it possible for LaVar’s son, LiAngelo Ball, to return to the U.S. after being detained in China following a shoplifting incident.

Ball then was on CNN for an interview, and refused to thank Trump, saying:

“How’d he help? If he helped, I would say thank you.”

To which Trump responded:

“It wasn’t the White House, it wasn’t the State Department, it wasn’t father LaVar’s so-called people on the ground in China that got his son out of a long term prison sentence – IT WAS ME,” Trump tweeted early Wednesday. “Too bad! LaVar is just a poor man’s version of Don King, but without the hair.”

“LaVar, you could have spent the next 5 to 10 years during Thanksgiving with your son in China, but no NBA contract to support you,” Trump tweeted. “But remember LaVar, shoplifting is NOT a little thing. It’s a really big deal, especially in China. Ungrateful fool!”

This wasn’t the first time president Trump has picked a fight with someone from around the NBA before (Stephen Curry, Steve Kerr, Gregg Popovich, Mark Cuban). Reason enough for one of his previous feud partners to voice his opinion. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was asked by TMZ for his take on the situation. Cuban explained how he thinks that LaVar Ball is acting straight out of the Donald Trump playbook.

“On the real, they’re so much alike. Donald will say what he needs to stay in PR, in the mindset and be talked about — so does LaVar. Donald doesn’t apologize for anything — neither does LaVar. LaVar knows if he apologizes, there’s nothing else to talk about. LaVar doesn’t apologize, he’ll end up in the news all day every day, and the president will end up having to talk about him. What’s better for Big Baller brand? It’s straight out of the Donald Trump playbook. Congratulations, LaVar.”
