DeMar DeRozan’s Streak Came To An End One Game Before Beating Kyle Lowry’s Streak
Last night, the Toronto Raptors celebrated a blowout victory over the Atlanta Hawks. The game was decided long before the final buzzer sounded. The Raptors led with 28 points at the half and 41 points at the end of the third quarter. This led to most Toronto starters being benched early. One of them was DeMar DeRozan who only took five shots over the course of the whole game.
DeRozan finished with only two points, and unknowingly ended his 113 game streak of scoring double digit points. All good things come to an end sooner or later, but when DeRozan learnd about his streak ending one game before Kyle Lowry’s streak of 114, he got (jokingly) mad.
Lowry and DeRozan not only are teammates, but also best friends, so this stat will come up quite often when the two meet up (I guess mostly by Lowry). When finding out about the streak postgame, DeRozan said:
“Why did nobody tell me this? Wow! I would have tried to beat him… just to beat him. Wow…. That’s crazy.”
