Kobe Bryant Praises Jayson Tatum And Jaylen Brown
This past offseason, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge achieved his goal in bringing in a superstar player without giving up any of his young, major assets in Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.
As often, when talking about the Celtics’ front office, this turned out to be a smart move. After Brown’s successful rookie campaign, they paired him with their 2017 number three pick Jayson Tatum.
Brown majorly improved and took his game to another level. While his defense had already been stunning in his rookie year, he added a diverse offensive game to his arsenal this season and has become one of the league’s best young two-way players. Jayson Tatum on the other hand has taken the NBA by storm. He also is a great two-way player with an already great offensive game, which didn’t go unnoticed by Kobe Bryant, who was praising him in his latest interview.
“As far as Jayson Tatum, his game is really well flushed out. Great midrange game, he can post up. He can finish at the rim. He handles the ball very well. He can shoot the long ball. I think there’s still little itty-bitty things that he’ll need to develop as his game progresses, defenses tend to double him more to catch up to him.
By and large, I love what I’m seeing from him, especially on the defensive end. Most young players coming nowadays just want to do the cute stuff. He seems to be the kind of player that doesn’t mind getting dirty and being physical and playing hard at both ends of the floor.
Jalen Brown is like that, too. I think very highly of Jalen Brown, too.”
When Gordon Hayward went down in the first game of the season, many thought the Boston Celtics’ expecations would go down with him. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown played a huge role in why this did not turn out to be the case.
