Jalen Rose Believes Ben Simmons Is Shooting With The Wrong Hand

The series against the Boston Celtics, was the hardest time in Ben Simmons’ young, yet amazing, NBA career. He struggled with his shot (even more than in the regular season), and wasn’t able to bring his a-game onto the court.

But nontheless, Ben Simmons’ rookie season has been one of the best rookie seasons in recent history. Everyone who was watching him plays knows that he could develop into a generational type of star. He’s got all the assets one needs to become an absolute superstar in this league, besides a decent jumpshot.

In an appearance on Fox Sports Radio, Kobe Bryant said that Simmons should rebuild the mechanics of his jump shot entirely.

“Just aesthetically I would say build that thing anew,” Bryant said. I don’t think the game came down to that though.”

While Simmons has already said that he only plans to make minor changes in his jump shot,

“I think minor things. But changing the whole shot, no. I think just working on it, adjusting to where I want the ball, loosening my shoulder up, also. Just getting shots up.”

former NBA player and now analyst Jalen Rose thinks that Simmons’ shooting woes have a different origin. Rose believes that Simmons, who shoots the ball left-handed, is shooting with the wrong hand:

“The game is so very hard when you can’t shoot. It is so tough. And I said this when he got drafted and a lot of people gave me flak for this. I think Ben Simmons shoots with the wrong hand!

When he drives to the basket, look. When it’s contested and he’s going to the basket, he shoots with his right hand. That lets me know. When it’s 18 seconds and he gets an offensive rebound, you’re under duress, you’re going to go to your strength. He shoots with his right hand.

But when he goes to the free throw line, he’s shooting with his left hand. I think that’s something that has to get corrected.”
