Poor Dirk Nowitzki Is The Odd Man Out In His Family

The FIFA World Cup in Russia has started this past Thursday and everyone is hyped. Me included.

Since my hometown is only about 90 miles away from Dirk Nowitzki’s, we’re both repping Deutschland colors for the next couple of weeks (hopefully until July 15). But unlike me, Dirk is the odd man out in his family, and will be isolated from the rest of his family members.

The problem: You see, Dirk Nowitzki’s wife, Jessica, is from Sweden and already said that the kids will wear Sweden jerseys. Normally, kids this age would probably support the more successful of the two teams, which is Germany, but Jessica’s brother, Martin Olsson is playing for Team Sweden in the World Cup.

Interestingly, Germany and Sweden are in the same group and will play against each other next Saturday:

“My wife already said that she’ll make the kids wear Sweden jerseys. I’ll be the only one sitting there wearing Germany’s jersey,”

The good thing is; two teams are advancing. And if Sweden won’t make it through, I bet Dirk has secretly bought Germany jerseys for his kids already.
