LiAngelo Ball Left JBA Arena After Seeing Lakers Draft Svi Mykhailiuk Over Him
Last December, Lonzo Ball’s brothers, LiAngelo and LaMelo, signed professional contracts with Lithuanian team Prienu Vytautas. In becoming professional players, both ended their NCAA eligibility.
The Euro-Trip turned out to be a big failure for the brothers who barley played and, according to Vytautas head coach Virginijus Seskus, are nowhere near the level of the LKL, let alone the NBA.
Then, at this year’s NBA Draft, LiAngelo Ball’s name (rightfully) was not called. After watching footage of LiAngelo’s draft workout, where he went 4/16, and even hit the side of the backboard, on open threes, without being defended, this didn’t come as too big of a surprise.
In the latest Ball in the Family episode, Draft night was more or less featured. LiAngelo made public that the Lakers had been talking to him that day and was overly confident that either the Lakers or Suns would take him in the second round. Then, while watching his younger brother LaMelo’s JBA game, the Lakers selected Svi Mykhailiuk with their 47th pick, Gelo immediately left the arena. After the Suns also passed on him with the 59th pick, meaning that Gelo would remain undrafted, the dissapointment really kicked in.
