Upcoming Free Agent Kevin Durant Is Only Thinking About The Money He’s Going To Get
This year’s offseason started with a bang, as the LeBron era in Cleveland had come to an end after James signed a four-year, $154 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Next year’s offseason may start with another bang. Kevin Durant will be a free agent and, so far, hasn’t verbally committed, or hinted, to return to the Warriors.
When asked about his upcoming free agency by The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson, Durant said that ‘“he’s not about none of that s**t,” but then added:
“I am thinking about the money I’m going to get,” Durant said. “I never got the (massive) deal. I’ve just seen a bunch of dudes around the league making so much money — and I’m happy for them. But I know I deserve that, too. That’s the only thing I’m probably thinking about, to be honest.”
While we should not get ahead of ourselves, because let’s be honest, we don’t what’s really going through Durant’s mind, there is one interesting fact: The Los Angeles Lakers’ 2019-2020 cap space is $38.2 million, Kevin Durant’s projected starting max salary for 2019-2020 is $38.3 million. There are no coincidences…
