This Season’s All Star Draft Will Be Televised
As you all know, this year, the All-Star Game format was revolutionized.
For the first time in All-Star Game history, two captains (the All-Star starters with the most fan votes in their respective conferences), LeBron James and Stephen Curry drafted the All-Star teams from the pool of players voted as starters and reserves.
Unfortunately, this draft wasn’t televised. But this season, that will change, as the draft will be televised live.
Marc Stein of The New York Times has the reports on this interesting decision by the league:
A firm date for the televised draft has not yet been established, but Jan. 30 or Jan. 31 have emerged as two potential targets for a TNT broadcast, according to the people, who were not authorized to discuss the plans publicly. The schedule availability of the two captains, once they are identified through fan balloting, is among the variables needed to lock in the broadcast specifics.
