Steve Kerr And NBA Twitter Don’t Think Fred Hoiberg Is To Blame For Bulls’ Struggle
Yesterday, the Chicago Bulls surprisingly fired their head coach Fred Hoiberg.
The young head coach never really had a chance to coach a good team, because the front office wasn’t able to put one together. He leaves with a 115-155 record in three-plus seasons, a record that’s pretty much the best possible outcome with the teams he coached over that time.
His colleague, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, also thought that Hoiberg never really got a chance and said:
“I don’t really look at it as anything difficult. I look at this as a privilege to coach great talent. I look at Fred Hoiberg today [who] was released by the Bulls. Fred never had a chance without really any talent to work with, to build something. I was blessed with talent from day one. An incredible amount of talent. So I’m privileged, I’m lucky and I enjoy every day of the process. So I don’t really look at this as anything taxing.”
NBA Twitter seems to agree with Kerr and mainly blame the front office, namely Gar Forman and John Paxson, for the Bulls’ struggle.
My instant reaction: Fred Hoiberg was never the problem with the Bulls. I like Boylen as a coach. But again, the coach isn't the problem with this franchise.

Bulls blame their coach and fire Fred Hoiberg? So what else is new. It's the front office where the Reinsdorfs need to come in and start firing people.

Not here to cape for #hoiberg but the @chicagobulls have one of the worst rosters in the @nba. With Lauri out there are 1, maybe 2 starting caliber players on the team. Much of the blame falls on GatPax, they need to go.

The Bulls were 5-19 this season, but were without Lauri Markkanen thus far. Sure, Fred Hoiberg didn’t exactly do a stellar job in his tenure in Chicago … but how long will Gar Forman and John Paxson stick around??
Franchise is 115-155 in last 3-plus seasons.

A team that has been missing many key players to injury all season fires its coach? Seems unfair.

Fred Hoiberg wasn't a successful coach in his time, but I think he deserved his shot to lead a healthy #Bulls team through the end of this season. Not really angry with the decision but GarPax deserves most of the blame for the team's issues
