Jimmy Butler Revealed What Happened Prior To The Infamous Wolves Practice
Remember when Jimmy Butler surprisingly showed up to Minnesota Timberwolves practice and took out his frustrations on his teammates, coaches and general manager Scott Layden. Butler even teamed up with the third string players, to take on the starters in scrimmages, and beat them, while trash-talking them in the process.
During a guest appearance on The J.J. Redick Podcast, Butler now revealed what happened prior to the practice session when someone told him he had to attend practice:
“Yeah, I’m getting to it. It’s not really heated [with Wolves management]. We’re literally just talking, and then somebody says: “You’re gonna practice.” Now, first of all, I have a for-real problem with authority. When somebody’s telling me what to do as a grown man, I have a problem with it. So now you done lit the match, but ain’t nothin’ on fire yet. You just lit the match. I was like: “First of all, you’re not going to tell me what I’m gonna do. If I choose to practice, I’ll choose to practice.” And I’m like: “Nah, I don’t know just yet.” And then he was like: “No, you’re gonna practice.”
The having problems with authorities part should really be red flags for every NBA team, the Sixers included. What’s going to happen when Butler starts being unhappy in Philly? We’ll probably find out someday.
