Damian Lillard: Me And Russell Westbrook Is Real Cool Off The Court

Damian Lillard vs Russell Westbrook has been one of the most interesting matchups in these playoffs so far. The media has taken it one step further and made a rivalry out of it.

If we look closely, one actually can say that there indeed is a rivalry between the two All-Star point guards. Stare-downs, rocking-the-baby and word exchanges. But according to Lillard these only are in-game competitive moments. As soon as the game ends, the two are ‘cool’ with each other. That’s what Dame told Oregon Live.

“The funny thing is, off the court, me and Russ is real cool. I see Russ, he asks about the family, ‘How is the family doing?’ and all that. We actually cool. So it’s funny when they try to say me and Russ hate each other and all this stuff. It’s not really like that. But it’s something about when you get on the court, I guess.”

That last sentence sums it up perfectly. Both Westbrook and Lillard are so competitive that they’ve never made any friends on the court during the game, not even on their own team.
