Pelicans GM David Griffin Tried To Recruit Vince Carter On Live TV

In the 1998 NBA Draft, Vince Carter was initially drafted by the Golden State Warriors with the fifth overall pick. But he was traded to the Toronto Raptors for the fourth overall pick, Antawn Jamison, on draft night – the beginning of a new era in ‘The 6ix’.

More than 20 years later, Carter is still playing and revealed that he plans to play one more year, if he finds a team.

In come the New Orleans Pelicans. The very young team with heaps of potential is looking to add some experienced veteran talent to its roster. You certainly won’t find a more experienced player than Vince Carter in the NBA today.

That’s why Pelicans General Manager David Griffin tried to recruit Carter live on a recent episode of ESPN’s The Jump.
