Larry Bird Gets Mad Over Own Mural, Retains Lawyer
Mural artist Jules Muck, recently revealed an amazing mural of Larry Bird just outside downtown Indianapolis.
Turns out Bird isn’t a fan of the added Indiana-themed tattoos… at all!
That’s why the NBA legend retained his lawyer, Gary Sallee, to address the issue. Salle told told the Indianapolis Star that Bird didn’t like the artistic liberties because
“He just doesn’t want to be seen as a tattooed guy.”
“Bird has developed a brand that is marketable and he needs to protect that brand.”
“The mural, as originally painted, was a departure from that brand.”
Muck, the artist, has responded to Bird’s complaints in the meantime and agreed on a compromise. He will remove all of the tattoos, but one – the one on his left arm that says “Indiana”.
