Vince Carter Doesn’t Want To Be An Honorary All-Star Like Dirk & Wade
In the 1998 NBA Draft, Vince Carter was initially drafted by the Golden State Warriors with the fifth overall pick. But he was traded to the Toronto Raptors for the fourth overall pick, Antawn Jamison, on draft night – the beginning of a new era in ‘The 6ix’.
More than 20 years later, Carter is still playing, and when this current season tipped-off, Carter started his NBA record 22nd season in the league.
But, even though this season will indeed be his final one, Carter does not want to be an honorary All-Star.
Last year, NBA legends Dirk Nowitzki and Dwyane Wade were invited to play on final All-Star game in their finals career year, and NBA fans loved it.
Carter though, when asked by NBA.com’s Khari Arnold if he’s hoping to be an honorary All-Star this season, said that he only wants to be an All-Star if he’s earned to be one.
“No, no. If I earn it, give it to me. But that’s just me. Don’t take this the wrong way when I say it like that. That’s just who I am. I’m very appreciative of earning my All-Star spots, being a leading vote-getter, so I don’t know. I just have a hard time with it. We’ll see if later down the line my view changes.”
