Brett Brown On Ben Simmons Not Attempting Any 3s After Challenging Him: “I Have Failed”

The Philadelphia 76ers have been one of the most disappointing teams of the season so far. They started the campaign not only as favorites in the Eastern Conference, but also as title contenders. But even though, they have all the talent in the world, it isn’t really clicking for the Sixers.

Let’s take Ben Simmons for instance. Simmons’ first two NBA seasons had been one of the best rookie and sophomore seasons in recent history. Everyone who was watching him play, knew that he could develop into a generational type of star. He’s got all the assets one needs to become that superstar in this league, besides a decent jumpshot.

This led to opponents not guarding Simmons’ three point shot at all, at times. Before the seasons started, Simmons hadn’t made a single three. With almost half of the regular season gone this year, he has made two three point shots.

On December 8, when he made his second career three pointer, his coach Brett Brown set a goal for his star point guard.

“I want a three-point shot a game, minimum,”

It appears as Simmons completely ignored his head coach though, as he since hasn’t even attempted a single three point shot. Before the Sixers game against Oklahoma City the other night, Brown was asked about the goal he had set for Simmons. The Sixers head coach took the blame and admitted failure.

Per FOX Sports:

“Evidently, I have failed. It’s something that we’re all mindful of, and this is one of these things that is never gonna go away. The attention that this has received is remarkable, but I guess I helped fuel it. I own it. I’ve gotta help him find this and, most importantly, he has to help himself.”
