Jayson Tatum Wants To Deliver Great Performances Like Last Night’s More Consistently

In the summer of 2017, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge achieved his goal in bringing in a superstar player without giving up any of his young, major assets in Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.

As often, when talking about the Celtics’ front office, this turned out to be a smart move. Even though Kyrie Irving isn’t with the team no more, keeping Brown and Tatum has been the key factor in the Celtics’ current success.

Brown majorly improved and took his game to another level. While his defense had already been stunning, he’s added a diverse offensive game to his arsenal this season and has become one of the league’s best young two-way players.

Jayson Tatum on the other hand has taken the NBA by storm from the get go. He also is a great two-way player with an already great offensive game, and will likely be the face of the franchise for a very long time.

Last night, during the Celtics’ blowout win over the New Orleans Pelicans, everybody got to witness his special talent, as Tatum went off for a career-high 41 points (he was 16-of-22 from the field and 6-of-9 from three). Even more impressive: it only took him three quarters to do the damage, before sitting the remainder of the game with the Celtics up big.

After the game, Tatum revealed that he wants to deliver such great performances more consistently, while also sounding like an experienced veteran:

“Obviously, it feels good for sure, but, you know, I never get high or too low if I play well or I don’t. I feel like I have a long way to go. The guys I look up to, they have nights like this more often than not. Obviously, it feels good, but I just want to try and do it more often and be consistent. Just continue to get better.

Tonight, I have to forget about it and move on to the next one.”
