Excited Karl-Anthony Towns Picks Up D’Angelo Russell From The Airport
In what turned out to be the only blockbuster trade (more or less) before this year’s trade deadline, the Minnesota Timberwolves traded Andrew Wiggins, a top-three protected first-round pick in 2021 that becomes unprotected in 2022, and a 2021 second-round pick for the talents of D’Angelo Russell, Jacob Evans, and Omari Spellman.
The Timberwolves getting Russell is a huge win for the front office, not only due to his talent, but also due to the fact that he’s a close friend of Karl Anthony Towns.
With the acquisition of the guard, Towns, who was unsatisfied with the team and the latest performances, will now be looking forward to playing again, and with the help of D’Angelo, end the team’s 12-game losing streak.
Towns indeed was so happy about the trade, that he went to the airfield to pick up Russell himself, while presenting him with his new jersey.
