Mutual Interest Between Knicks And Carmelo Anthony To Join Forces Again Next Season

After a rough year in Oklahoma City, Anthony was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-way deal, but never played a minute for the Hawks, and was bought out of his contract. Houston then signed him and was hopeful that he could improve their team.

That only lasted a couple of weeks, before Carmelo Anthony’s services were no longer required in Houston. He was the easy scapegoat for how subpar and dysfunctional the Rockets were. Then, the Portland Trail Blazers finally gave Melo a chance this season, a chance Melo took full advantage of.

Anthony has played well enough to spark the interest of other NBA teams again, one of which being Melo’s former team, the New York Knicks.

The New York Post’s Marc Berman reports that new Knicks President Leon Rose is interested in reacquiring Carmelo Anthony. Before Rose took over as Knicks President, he represented a number of star NBA players, such as Allen Iverson, LeBron James and, yup, you’ve guessed correctly, Carmelo Anthony.

Rose and Anthony still have a close relationship, and when asked about next season, Anthony said that he will always consider the Knicks and New York home.

Per Newsday:

“It’s hard to say because I don’t know what that situation is going to be. The easiest thing to say is, ‘His agent is there, he’s coming back.’ Until I sit down and see the whole plan, I don’t know.

Me and him, we talk multiple times a week. That’s not something we even discuss. I still think it’s still a shock for everybody. When the offseason comes, I got to be careful [what I say] now because it’s tampering.”
