The NBA Is Considering A Shorter Playoff Series

Just like almost every other sports league in the world, the NBA currently is on hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

While we don’t know when or even if the season will continue, the league’s owners are convinced that there can’t be a return to action until June, at the earliest.

If the league does return, the NBA discussed plans with the league’s Board of Governors on a call yesterday, that include playing only several more regular season games and shortening early playoff series’ from best-of-seven to best-of-five.

Until 2003, the NBA played in a best-of-five first-round series format, before changing it to seven.
