Isiah Thomas Fires Back And Calls Out Michael Jordan

Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas experienced a ruthless competition against Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls during the late 1980s and 1990, when the Pistons eliminated the Bulls from the playoffs for three straight years (1988, 1989, and 1990). The Bad Boys Pistons were an obstacle that Jordan couldn’t clear at first. The heated matchups between Isiah and Jordan eventually formed a bitter atmosphere between the two, that still lasts today.

Their rivalry peaked when the Bulls finally got the upper hand in the 1991 Eastern Conference Finals and Isiah Thomas and his teammates left the court before time expired, without a handshake or any congratulating gesture.

Jordan and Thomas’ rivalry still stands today, as we could see in the first couple of episodes of ESPN and Netflix’s joint production ‘The Last Dance’. Being confronted with Isiah’s statement to the walk-off, Jordan still hasn’t forgotten about what happened that night:

“I know it’s all bullshit. Whatever he says now, you know it wasn’t his true actions then. He’s had time to think about it. Or, the reaction of the public, that’s kind of changed his perspective of it. You can show me anything you want. There’s no way you can convince me he wasn’t an asshole.”

When Isiah Thomas was asked about this scene from ‘The Last Dance’ on ESPN’s ‘Jalen&Jacoby’ he called out Jordan and Horace Grant for acting all nice when they meet in person, not saying the things they say on camera to his face.

“All I know is whenever I’ve seen these guys, personally, upfront with each other, I have never gotten that reaction from Horace grant. never gotten that reaction from Michael Jordan. They’ve always been nice, pleasant, pleasant, you know that. You know, so it’s easy to talk a lot of stuff on TV behind cameras or radio, but when we face to face, I haven’t got the reaction from you.”
