Kobe Bryant Also Had A Food Poisoning Game 18 Years Ago
Due to ‘The Last Dance’, we’ve talked a lot about Michael Jordan’s infamous Flu Game on June 11, 1997, in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. But Jordan isn’t the only legend who was food poisoned before a very important game.
Like Mike, Kobe Bryant also was poisoned – this happened prior to Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals against the Sacramento Kings in 2002.
The night before the game, Kobe ordered a bacon cheeseburger from room service at the Sacramento Hyatt. Many rumors were circulating around, most of which claiming that the mafia was behind the poisoning, due to them favoring the New Jersey Nets to win the title.

Bryant ended up playing, but wasn’t really in the shape to do so. He still went on to score 22 points, but the Kings came out on top. But, as we all know, the Lakers ended up winning the series and the NBA title that year, also mirroring the end of Jordan’s food poisoning.
