Ray Allen And Rajon Rondo Had A Boxing Match In The Celtics’ Gym, After Allen Wanted To Trade Rondo For CP3

Last year, during an interview, former defenive stopper, Tony Allen, revealed that Paul Pierce used to bring boxing gloves to Celtics practices so players on the team could settle their differences by boxing each other. This eventually led to Allen getting knocked out, after selecting the wrong opponent, Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis.

While we’ve all laughed about the story, it was unclear if other Celtics players also picked up these gloves to settle their arguments… until now.

While being on NBA Radio, Kendrick Perkins revealed that Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo also went in the ring to fight each other, which, on second thought, shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, given their history.

According to Perkins, the Boston Celtics had a chance to trade Rajon Rondo for Chris Paul, but both Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce vetoed against it, while Ray Allen was all for it. When Rondo found out, he put on the gloves and challenged Allen in the ring:

“It was a point in time where Rondo was up there as probably like top five point guards in the league. You had Derrick Rose, you had Chris Paul, and then the next person that was coming to mind was Rondo…

… Chris Paul wanted out [of New Orleans], and it was rumors starting to circulate and it was brought to the table that what if we trade Rondo and get CP. And KG and Paul was like ‘nah we ain’t doing that, as great as CP is, man, we just won a championship, we rocking with [Rondo]. He’s given us everything we need.’ Ray Allen was like ‘nah, let’s do it!’ And what happened was Rondo ended up finding out about it and that was it from there. It was even to the point we brought boxing gloves to the gym and they got on boxing gloves. Ray and Rondo. Like they put on the gloves. We made them box it out for like two rounds.”
