Game 1 Of The German Basketball League Semis Ended In A Draw?!

Game 1 of the German Basketball League, the Easy Credit BBL, Semi Finals between MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg and Ratiopharm Ulm ended 71:71.

A draw in basketball? This weird result only happened because of the coronavirus. The BBL is currently hosting a playoff-like tournament to determine this season’s champion in Munich’s Audi Dome. Just like the NBA, the BBL also was on hiatus, but thanks to Germany’s great coronavirus politics, the league already restarted a couple of weeks ago.

Due to limited time (Germany wants to play the next season as previously scheduled), the series won’t be played in a best of 5 format, as it’s usually played in Germany’s playoffs, but will be decided after only two games. Since the score of both of these games will be added after the end of Game 2, the winner who scored more in both games combined advances.

You can basically consider Game 1 to be the first two quarters of a normal game, and Game 2 as the third and fourth quarters, only that both Games will be played in full length.
