Craig Hodges Made 19 Consecutive Three Pointers In During The 1991 All-Star 3-Point Contest
Craig Hodges played in the NBA for 10 seasons and led the league in 3-point shooting percentage in 3 of them. He also won two NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls, and alongside Larry Bird, is one of only two players to win three consecutive Three Point Contests. Hodges won in 1990, 1991, and 1992 and was the runner-up in 1986 and 1989.
In 1986, Craig Hodges scored the most points in a single round at 25, in contest history. Well, until Devin Booker’s final round in the 2018 NBA three point contest. Booker had 28 points which were three more than Hodges and an all-time record, missing only five of his 25 shots.
But, actually it wasn’t an all-time record if we judge fairly. In 1986, when Hodges scored his 25, there was no money ball rack. In 1991, exactly 29 years ago today, Hodges also recorded one more made three than Booker did in 2018. Again, his score did not surpass Booker’s score due to the money ball rack. In this 1991 contest Hodges also recorded the most consecutive shots made with 19! Check out this vintage piece of video and Hodges shooting clinic.
