The Eight Teams Out Of The Orlando Bubble Are Planning To Have A Tournament Of Their Own

When the 2019-20 NBA season resumes on July 30th, it will be in a new format that includes only 22 of the 30 NBA teams – 13 Western Conference teams and nine teams of the Eastern Conference.

So when the season finally tips of again, the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, and Charlotte Hornets won’t be playing with the rest of the league in Orlando, Florida.

Turns out we might be in for even more basketball than expected. Some of the eight teams, namely the Hawks, Cavs and Pistons, are pushing for a tournament of their own, that includes the other eight teams – The Delete Eight!

Per The Athletic:

“The frustration from most of these teams, sources say, is that the ones not in Orlando now face a competitive disadvantage going forward when it comes to player and culture development. But while many team officials are holding out hope that this might happen, and were even encouraged by the Thursday call (with NBA officials and members of the media), sources have also said all along that the NBPA might not agree to any such proposal.”
