Patrick Beverley Shares His Astounding Approach On The Defensive End
Over the years, Patrick Beverley has quickly gained reputation as one of the most premier defensive point guards in the NBA. Even at 6-foot-1, Beverley has been given the task to guard bigger and taller NBA players, which Beverley even takes pride in doing so.
Given his defensive abilities, Beverley’s tremendous approach on defense is a part of what makes him even more of a high-caliber defensive player. In an interview with Whistle Sports, the Los Angeles Clippers point guard shared more about his mindset when it comes to taking on his defensive matchups.
“Every team I play, I’m playing them like Golden State when they had Kevin Durant, every point guard I play, I’m playing Stephen Curry.”

Beverley receives a lot of credit because of his willingness to guard the best player and get into their head in any single game. This is also why Beverley has been involved in many scuffles with some of the best offensive players in the league such as Russell Westbrook, Damian Lillard, Joel Embiid and many more.
Even without eye-popping box score numbers, Beverley’s defense has allowed him to be one of the most important pieces on the team at the moment. His defense was the primary reason why he was able to sign his most lucrative contract of his career this past summer with the Clippers.
Beverley was part of the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2014, and the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2017. The 31-year old defensive point guard was averaging 7.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game on 42.8% shooting from the field before the hiatus.
