League Sources Consider Devin Booker As Potential New York Knicks Player

The additions of Leon Rose and William “Worldwide” Wesley to the New York Knicks’ front office may have opened a window for the franchise to acquire a high-profile NBA player that could help shape their status in the future.

League sources believe both Rose and Wesley could provide a link to Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker as a potential trade target for the Knicks. Booker was a former client of Rose before he took over as Knicks president, while Wesley is a close connection to both.

Per the New York Post:

However, since Leon Rose was hired as president, the player to watch out for most is Suns combo guard Devin Booker, according to league sources. If Rose hires Tom Thibodeau, Towns — a former Rose client — no longer makes sense because of their history.

During the process of hiring Rose, Booker was among other clients that gave their compliments to Rose when becoming the new Knicks president. Booker stated that his Creative Artists Agency agent will do an unbelievable job in his new position.

“I think he’ll do unbelievable,’’ Booker said of Rose. “One of the most genuine guys I know. One of the most honest guys I know. So I’m happy for him in his new position. I think the Knicks are in really good hands.’’

“[He’s] very excited,” added Booker, who recently signed a five-year extension. “It’s a new challenge. And like I said, he’s willing to take it on. I think he’s going to do an unbelievable job.”

Booker is yet to show any desires of parting ways with the Suns, but recent speculations suggest that Booker could get tired of losing sooner or later if the Suns are unable to build a legitimate squad around their All-Star shooting guard to help produce organizational success.

But it appears that the Suns found another franchise cornerstone in DeAndre Ayton who could spark a turnaround season with Devin Booker. The Suns showed a lot of promise earlier in the season, but a 25-game suspension to Ayton held them back from further climbing up the playoff ladder.

The Suns are one of the teams that will take part of NBA’s 22-team plan season restart at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida on July 30.
