Enes Kanter Makes Bold Promise To Celtics Fans: “The 18th Banner Is Coming Soon”
The Boston Celtics haven’t sniffed at the NBA Finals since 2010, but center Enes Kanter is confident that they have what it takes to break the decade of drought. More so, Kanter even thinks the team could take home the NBA Finals trophy this year, which will then be signaled by another banner in the rafters.
During an episode of Kanter’s own podcast namely ‘The Enes Kanter Show’, the 28-year old big man guaranteed a championship and vowed to Celtics fans that their 18th banner is on its way.
“Hey, I promise the Celtics fans man. The 18th banner is coming soon,” Kanter guaranteed. “We better win it because I know how crazy the Celtics fans are.”
Although it’s been a decade since they last made the Finals, the Celtics have managed to remain relevant, continuously achieving winning seasons under different leaders and supporting casts. This year, the team looks like they haven’t lost a step even after losing Kyrie Irving and Al Horford this past summer.
Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart and Gordon Hayward have shown drastic improvements, while Jayson Tatum has elevated his game and is already an All-Star in his third season. The Celtics also enjoy a 20-points per game production from an established star in Kemba Walker.
The Celtics aren’t the heavy favorites to come out in the Eastern Conference, still there’s no doubt that they are one of the best teams in the conference and have the key pillars that could bolster the team’s chances to make the NBA Finals or to a certain extent – win the NBA championship.
