LeBron James Reveals Why He’ll Be One Of The Few Players Not Wearing Message On Back Of His Jersey
NBA players loved it, when it was revealed that players will have the option of replacing their last name on their jerseys with a statement on social justice when the NBA season resumes on July 30, in Orlando.
But ever since the NBA has put out a list of social messages that can be put on jerseys, basically not allowing players to choose a message or name of their liking, things have changed. The list has led to many players complaining about the NBA interfering with their actual ‘jersey plans’.
One of these players is LeBron James, who therefore will be one of the few players not wearing a social message on their jersey, but their name instead, as usual.
“I respect everybody that decided to put something on the back of their jersey”, James said yesterday.
On Zoom conference, LeBron James discussed social justice issues and his work in his community, but said he won't wear a message on the back on his jersey. Said he did not have input on list and it "wasn't something that really, seriously resonated with my mission," he said.
