Michael Jordan And Scottie Pippen’ Relationship Still Isn’t Good 

Longtime Chicago Bulls writer Sam Smith who is also the author of ‘The Jordan Rules’ book recently suggested that both Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen may still not be in good terms, even after several weeks since ESPN’s 10-part documentary series ‘The Last Dance’ concluded.

Pippen was previously reported as ‘beyond livid’ with his portrayal in the documentary. Later reports even revealed that Pippen hasn’t talked to Michael Jordan ever since the start of the documentary.

Per Isaac Chotiner of The New Yorker:

“I don’t think their relationship is good now,” the longtime Bulls writer [Sam Smith] told Isaac Chotiner of The New Yorker. “I know Scottie was hurt by his portrayal. He was hurt, I believe, when Michael said he was selfish when he sat out.

“I think he was maybe not upset, maybe hurt. Because I think he valued Michael. I think he was at Michael’s wedding when he got remarried. So they’ve always had an ambivalent relationship, that Scottie would like to be in Michael’s group, because, obviously, being around Michael, the spotlight shines brighter, but Scottie never saw himself as a sycophant. And Michael tends to treat the people around him as, maybe not servants, but helpers.

“And Scotty would resent, at times, Michael’s treatment of him as less than an equal. I think he drifts back and forth in the relationship. And I think, with the documentary, his thing is probably to drift away a little bit. But I could see him coming back again.”

While Jordan considered him as his best teammate, the documentary showed some of Pippen’s career blunders and a present-day interview where Jordan even described him as selfish – statements that weren’t very pleasing on Pippen’s side.

Despite reports of him being angry about his portrayal, Pippen somehow stayed relatively quiet throughout its airing. His teammates including Horace Grant, Craig Hodges and Bill Cartwright however were very vocal, criticizing and picking the documentary apart on multiple interviews.

Both Jordan and Pippen shared an incredible chemistry on and off the court throughout their entire careers. The two players would later on go down as two of the greatest players in Chicago Bulls history, and arguably the best duo of all-time, with six championship titles to back it up.
