Shannon Sharpe Argues Why Damian Lillard Is Better Than Kyrie Irving, Jayson Tatum, Joel Embiid And Most East All-Stars
Damian Lillard has put the whole NBA on notice after putting up extraordinary games inside the Bubble, making him a legitimate candidate to win the Most Valuable Player of the NBA Bubble. Lillard has gained a ton of recognition, and some argue that he’s already part of the cream of the crop.
NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe even argued that Lillard would be the best point guard had he played in the Eastern Conference. Furthermore, Sharpe believes that the 30-year old point guard is better than all East players except Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant.
“I would take Dame over everyone in the East besides Giannis Antetokounmpo, and if Kevin Durant is playing, [Lillard] is the 3rd best player. I’m taking him over Joel Embiid, I’m taking him over Jayson Tatum, I’m taking him over everybody. He would be the best point guard even if Kyrie Irving was playing.”
Damian Lillard continues to make noise throughout the season. The Blazers star is currently averaging 30.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game on 46.3% shooting from the field. Lillard has been hitting on all cylinders, dropping a career-high in points per game, assists per game and field goal percentage.
The Portland Trail Blazers have started the season slow and were out of the playoff picture to start their eight Orlando seeding games. But the Blazers seemingly flipped the switch since coming back from the hiatus and impressively made a run for the eight spot in the Western Conference.
Despite losing Rodney Hood and Trevor Ariza, the Blazers have seen huge contribution from returning player Jusuf Nurkic and sixth man Gary Trent Jr.. The Blazers will face the Memphis Grizzlies in a play-in tournament to decide which team will take the last spot in the Western Conference playoff table.
